Athletes take on the SA Champs

Local athletes bring home four medals.

Germiston Callies Harriers athletes attended the Athletics South Africa SA Championship at Green Point Stadium, in Cape Town, recently.

Pedro Aaron, Simonè van der Nest and Tanya Ehrke were the three local athletes competing.

Aaron achieved gold in the boys’ u-19 long jump, Van der Nest achieved two gold medals in the girls’ u-19 100m and 200m sprints and Ehrke bagged a silver medal in the girls’ u-19 100m hurdles.

“They all secured good podium positions, which was impressive at an event of that magnitude,” said their coach, Stephanè Kotzè.

“We will continue to work hard during training in order to maintain these results and hopefully better them where possible.”
