Primrose stop-and-search yields results

Dagga seized by the Primrose police during the arrest of six suspects.

The Primrose police arrested six men, aged between 24 and 50 years old, on charges of dagga possession, last Tuesday.

The accused were arrested during a stop-and-search operation, which saw officers visiting the Makause, Delport and Marathon informal settlements.

“We are still facing the challenge of substance abuse in our precinct.

“In an effort to curb the problem, we will carry on holding similar operations and arresting all law-breakers in our area,” said the communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.

Police believe that substance abuse can be linked to a number of other crimes, including domestic violence, murder and assault.

“All six suspects were taken to the Primrose Police Station where they were profiled with a micro-connectivity device.

“During this process it was discovered that one of the men was wanted in connection with two other Primrose police cases,” Maome said.

All of the suspects will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
