Eight nabbed for dagga possession

Primrose police confiscate dagga during the arrest of eight men in Primrose.

During a Primrose police foot patrol in the Delport, Makause and Marathon informal settlements last Friday, police arrested eight suspects.

The men, aged between 26 and 54 years old, were charged with possession of dagga after police searched them and found the dagga.

“We continue to appeal to the community to remember that dagga is still regarded as a drug and anyone found in possession of it will face criminal charges,” said communications officer for the Primrose police Sgt Styles Maome.

Police believe that substance abuse can be linked to a number of other crimes, including domestic violence, murder and assault.

Following their arrests, the men were taken to the Primrose Police Station where some paid admission of guilt fines before being released and others were detained pending their appearance in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.
