The Primrose police arrested a 25-year-old man on a charge of rape last Sunday.

The rape allegedly took place in Walkers Avenue in Primrose at the victim’s home.

“The victim told officers that she had been asleep when she heard a noise at the gate.

“She went outside to investigate and was approached by the accused,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose Police.

He allegedly called her names and demanded sex from her before he grabbed her by her throat, overpowered her and threw her to the ground.

“The victim claims he forcefully had sex with her without her consent and did not use any form of protection.

“When he was done she claimed he dragged her into the house and continued raping her,” said Maome.

Despite her continuous screams for help, no one came to her aid.

The suspect was arrested and brought to the Primrose Police Station where he was formally charged.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court where his case was postponed for a bail application.
