It didn’t take long before the good news about a film on the life of late SA superstar Brenda Fassie would be marred with controversy. Timeslive reported that the singer's producer Sello 'Chicco' is allegedly standing in the way of the upcoming film claiming to have rights over the film.
Bongani Fassie is set to be the co-executive producer of the film after UK film company Showbizbee acquired the rights to produce the film about the superstar’s life. Filming is meant to begin in February with shooting taking place in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
It wasn’t long before the feud between Bongani Fassie and Twala reached social media with Twala calling him a “monster and a liar” and claiming that he squandered his mother's money.
Bongani disputed Twala’s claim over the singer’s rights and began retweeting his fans' opinions on the matter.
The film will hit cinemas in 2019.
