Police visit schools during back to school campaign

The Primrose police’s school awareness campaign is in full swing with a team of officers and members from the Primrose Crime Prevention Youth Desk recently visiting Hoërskool Goudrif and Hoërskool Vryburger High School.

During their visit, the team spoke to learners about several issues including statutory rape, discipline and the danger of using drugs.

“We encourage learners to have self-discipline,” Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police said during the visit.

“This will help you to progress through life with ease.”

During his presentation, he also reminded learners that a child below the age of 16 cannot consent to sex and sent a stern warning to those who are allegedly bringing dagga to the school that their days were numbered and they would be caught.

Before leaving Maome explained the procedures that are followed when a minor is arrested and encouraged the children to study hard.

“Create a better and brighter future for the community,” he said.
