The Elsburg SAPS recently collaborated with various departments, including the Department of Education, in their latest operation to ensure that Elsburg schools are free of illegal items.

The Elsburg SAPS, together with the Elsburg Social Crime Prevention Unit, sector managers, EMPD, Department of Education, Department of Correctional Services, Station Operational Crime Combating and Vispol units admin members visited over 900 learners from Hoërskool Elsburg and School of Achievement to launch their school search operation campaign.

Hoërskool Elsburg enjoyed great success when none of their learners was found with any illegal items in their possession.

“We hope these searches go a long way in deterring learners from carrying illegal items during and after school,” said Const Daphney Phooko, the communications officer for the Elsburg police.

The learners were applauded for not being found with illegal items in their possession and were further encouraged to focus on their studies.

A few learners from School of Achievement were found with several illegal items including dagga and pocket knives.

Members of the search operation took further steps in helping learners who had been found in possession of illegal items to abolish illegal activities that may ruin their future.

“The presence of men and women in blue, along with other stakeholders in these schools, has sent a stern warning to ill-disciplined learners that the police will not tolerate any form of criminal activity in schools,” said Phooko.
