Update: Power restored after Wadeville recycling company fire

Wadeville recycling company fire.

Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) and Eskom technicians worked hard throughout the night and day and have restored the power supply to several Germiston suburbs that have been without power for several days.

The outage was caused by a fire at a Wadeville recycling company.

The fire damaged Eskom overhead power lines and as a precaution Eskom made the decision to switch off the power, leaving Wadeville, Albemarle, Dinwiddie, Dewittsrus, Norton Small Farms, Union, Elsiehof and parts of Lambton, Klippoortjie, Roodekop and Leondale without power.

Ward 39 councillor Alta de Beer confirmed that the power was restored late this afternoon, “It seems the power is fully restored,” she said.
